We love to work with clients to create or enhance foundation plantings, perennial gardens, pocket gardens, rock gardens, crevice gardens, train gardens, fairy gardens, and more! Combined, we have over 35 years of in-the-field experience with plant selection and proper siting of perennials, shrubs, and ornamental trees.
The bulk of our work is focused around maintaining existing landscapes by pruning, weeding, and dead-heading. We also offer fertilization services as well as periodic hand-watering as needed for customers with or without irrigation on site. Hand watering may be needed in particularly dry years or when fresh plantings are still getting established.
We have extensive experience planting annuals, as well as keeping them dead-headed and tidy all season long. We can plant what you have in mind, or suggest planting ideas to you! We source our annuals from the best distributors here in Colorado and pride ourselves in using locally grown plant material whenever possible.
We have the passion to create conversation pieces in your containers. Whether it is pottery around your pool, or a broken pot in your garage, we can create something that will keep you taking pictures long after we have finished. Don't have containers? We are happy to source and deliver pots to your property. We provide the soil as well as the plants.
Mulching services provided on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to set up a consultation to see if we are the right team to tackle your mulching job.
Keeping your plants well watered in the winter is vital in our typically dry and harsh climate here in Colorado. We strongly recommend periodically watering your plants in winter when the temperatures are above 40 F., as advised by CSU Cooperative Extension. Winter is also a great time of year for pruning work on your woody plant material.
Custom holiday wreaths, door sprays, garland, pots, many other design options are available to you with years of evergreen holiday decorating experience at the helm. Allow us to bring the textures, ambiance, and scents of the season into your home and onto your property!
Cemetery decor available such as wreaths and cones, as allowed by property regulations.
We create custom and made-to-order holiday centerpieces from fresh greens to bring the holidays indoors. Centerpieces are a great hostess gift to bring to a holiday party, or to gift to friends, family, staff, delivery personnel, or hired independent contractors as a seasonal thank you.
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We offer a free consultation to see if our services are a good fit for your landscaping needs, then discuss rates that are based on the work required.
We do small-scale planting work, and maintain trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals in residential landscapes.
Beth Nichols and Jesse Wood are co-owners and the sole employees of Picture Perfect Gardening. Both Beth and Jesse are happy to submit a full CBI background check as well as a full drug screening at the customer's request.
We complete the bulk of our services on the weekend, or after 3:45pm on weekdays.
We do offer hand-watering services, but we do not install or maintain irrigation systems. We also do not sub-contract irrigation work at this time.
We do not offer this service. There are many reasons for this: Weed barrier is an irrigation tech's worst nightmare. Chances are you will need irrigation laid (or adjusted if we are doing planting work), and they will need to cut up any weed barrier to do so. Weed barrier can become problematic for weeds such as wild onions (chives) because the bulb often forms below the fabric and cannot be pulled when hand weeding. "Topping" weeds (not getting the roots/bulb) creates a bigger problem because when we remove the top of the plant energy is driven to the roots. The bulb grows bigger and then the weed gets bigger every time it is topped. Weed barrier also creates issues if you need plants relocated, or new plants installed. Weed barrier is also ineffective with seed weeds, as they will still germinate in the mulch above the weed barrier. The main exception to our No Weed Barrier rule is in certain rock garden applications but this is a rare circumstance.
We do not.
At this time we do not offer large-scale leaf cleanup services, but we will close your gardens at the end of the year.
We provide a free consultation and charge a fee on a case-by-case basis if you choose to buy a design (drawing with specs) and do the installation work yourself. Therefore, if you just want to talk plants we will come out for free to do so, with an appointment lasting approximately 45 minutes and no obligation to use our services.
At this time, we do not require our customers to sign a contract with us for the season. With that in mind, it is imperative that you schedule with us early in order to assure we will be available to do the work. We do require all customers sign off on Terms & Conditions prior to receiving services.
For installation of woody material and perennials, we can start that work usually in mid-to-late April. Plant material must be hardened off, which means it must be comfortably outside at our vendors' greenhouses 24 hours a day at the time we do the work. If the plant material is outside in whatever conditions we are experiencing here in Colorado with no issue, then it will not have an issue being outside in your landscape.
Annual plantings need to wait well into May. Customers are responsible for covering or otherwise protecting their annual plantings in the event we experience temperatures below 40 degrees F or hail, etc. We recommend waiting until Memorial Day weekend for annual planting work but we will be happy to install annuals at your request. We do not recommend ever planting annuals prior to Mother's Day, but will do so at the customer's request.
Beth and Jesse are plant lovers first and business people second. All designs are created with mature plant sizes in mind. We design beds to look full upon all plants reaching their ultimate maturity, not full at the time we complete the planting work. This may mean that beds look a bit more sparse than a homeowner would prefer at the time of installation, but keep in mind plants need time to fill in!
Neither Jesse nor Beth smoke or vape.
